The Submarine Pitch edition by Matt Christopher Children eBooks
For many years my mother always told me to never be a quitter. And when I look back over my life today she was right. She must've known something that it took me many years to learn just like in this story titled The Submarine Pitch. When a pitcher walks out to the pitcher's mound while baseball fans cheer, he likes to think that he has all the right stuff to get batter's out. Strike outs. Grounders caught, thrown and beating a runner to first base. Outfielders camping under a fly ball for an easy out. And that' the name of the game.
But not having the right stuff can be discouraging like it was for Bernie as this story unfolds. Bernie doesn't think he's good enough to play baseball and quits However, when a good friend comes along and teaches him how to pitch the Submarine Pitch, suddenly his confidence is up and he rejoins the team. The moral of this story is to never give up.
Matt Christopher, using a baseball platform, teaches kids that they can be anybody they want to be as long as they strongly believe in themselves, put their passions into action, and never give up. I really like this story. Marvin P. Ferguson, author of THE UNKNOWN BASEBALL PLAYER.

Well, that's what happens in The Submarine Pitch
